Weekly Round-Up: Reading and Life

IMPORTANT NEWS:

I had a stressful last two days because my Followers GFC gadget wasn't showing up on my blog. Thanks to a blogging friend's help, I fixed it, and that meant disabling HTTPS.  Now the Follow gadget is visible, but only if you visit my blog via a "non-HTTPS" URL. I'm not so great with these things, so I was wondering if any of you can help:
Will my HTTPS link change automatically over time so that every link to my blog will automatically be without the HTTPS in front of the URL?
Does that make sense?! Can anyone advise with this? Also, please tell me if you can see the gadget as it is now?
Thank you!

In other news, I start school again tomorrow and I will also start committing to the sugar-free diet. (Help!)
I'm been reading a lot this week. I finished about 4 books (I think...), and received one of them - Freeks - from a publisher to review.  My reviews of all of them will be up this coming week - if school doesn't make me too busy ;)

Posts of the week:
Film review: An Education
Emoji Book Tag
Book Review: The 5th Wave
Waiting on Wednesday #15
Film Review: Me Before You
The Mystery Blogger Award
Your Best Dress!
Book Review: The Luxe

I'm so excited to start this beauty, which I'm sure I'll love as much as I've loved all Donoghue's books so far :)

How's your week been? What have you been up to?

  1. I can see your followers gadget, but don't know about the HTTPS thing. I've been cutting out sugar out of my life. But not entirely banished it. Basically soda, sweets, cakes, deserts etc. are out. But, I'm allowed to use honey as a sweetener in sugar etc. I don't want to completely cut sugar out of my life, I just want to make sure I'm not eating it by the spoon. The Frog Music sounds like an interesting book, hope you'll like it! Happy Reading!

    1. Yay I'm glad; I must have done something right, lol :)
WOO HOO good for you! That's awesome! Starting from Monday, I'm definitely gonna be cutting back as well. But yeah, a little bit now and then is fine, I'm sure.
Thanks, I hope so too! Thank you! <3

  2. I have no clue about computers and codes so I'm afraid I don't even understand the questions you asked! I can see the followers thing though. I've finally found a sugar free fizzy drink that I like (Tango) and I've switched over to it. I need to start getting some exercise though but I just don't enjoy it! Pity you can't lose a half pound for every book you read! I'd be a supermodel by now!

    1. Lol that's fine! But I'm glad you can see the followers, that's good to know :)
Oooh awesome! I haven't heard of that drink before, but it sounds great!
Ah I know, I'm the same :( I hate exercise. (I'm inclined to think holding a book up while you read is a good enough arm work-out, don't you think?!) I do skipping every day though, with a skipping rope, etc, and that's my only exercise. I do about 200 skips per day and that makes me feel better about myself:)

  3. Good luck on cutting sugar out! I normally don't have soda and desserts, but every now and again pop a piece of candy in. I'm looking forward to your review of Freeks. I'm about to start reading the last book in her Trylle trilogy, and I'm so excited!

    1. Thanks, I'll need it! Lol.
That's a great way to do it; some now and then is fine, I'm sure :)
Oooh enjoy! I didn't like her Trylle trilogy that much, but I loved her Watersong series! You should read that next :)
      Have a lovely week ahead!

  4. OMG!! Now I'm having the very same problem!! I can't see the GFC widget on my blog! And I can't see yours, either. What the HECK?! I just checked, and the "https" is part of your URL. Well, I accessed your blog through my Blog Roll List. Hm. Maybe this means that, since the list is part of the Blogger platform, it automatically places the "https" in front of each URL you access from the list.

This is really Google's fault. They're CONSTANTLY messing around with technical issues. WHY can't they leave well enough alone?! SHEEESH!!!! I'm seriously ANNOYED here. As soon as I finish this comment, I'm going to go Google this. The problem is, there are blogs that REQUIRE commenters to have the "https" in their URLs, in order to be able to comment. I wonder why.... I'll keep you posted!

Anyway....it's GREAT that you were able to read FOUR books this week!! Wish I could read that fast....lol. Good luck with school! But I'll bet you're an AMAZING student!!

Okay, later! Thanks for commenting on my "Sunday Post", as well as other posts! Much appreciated!! Have a WONDERFUL week!! <3 <3 :) :)

    1. NOOOOO! SHAME!! But I've just checked yours now - accessing from your Blogger Profile - and I can see it fine! Maybe it's fixed now?

I KNOW RIGHT?! Urgh, it makes me so MAD!
Thank you, I'd really appreciate that :) <3

Lol ;) Thanks! Haha not quite - I hate maths and science so I'm rather "aggro" with those ;) Lol!

Thanks, you too!! Hope all goes well and it's a relaxing one :)

  6. Back to school time indeed! It's never easy going back. I've been trying to cram as much reading in as I can over the holiday break, because the semester gets crazy and then I can't read as much. :/ I hope you enjoy all of your new books, Amy! Good luck with school!

Thanks for visiting my blog! Have a wonderful week. =)

  9. Ugh. I noticed my followers stuff is also bugging right now. It's a Google thing and they're working on it, but it's annoying! I'm sure it will be resolved soon-ish.

Unfortunately a lot of people have https forced by their browser (like me) so it won't help in that case but hopefully it won't be a drawn out issue.

Glad you had such a great reading week - I've had the opposite but I hope to be able to catch up soon!

    Have an excellent week further!

Yeah I hope it won't last.

Thanks! Oh no, sorry :( I hope this one is MUCH better! <3

      Thank you, you too!

  11. Blogger/ Google issues seem to be cropping up more and more lately, or maybe it's just me. I see a lot of complaints. Good luck with the sugar free diet! That would be tough for me!

Can't wait to see your review of Freeks, I won that one in a giveaway and can't wait to start it. :)

    Love that Maze Runner cover!

  12. Sorry I don't know much about use GFC. :( Loved your review of Freaks! looking forward to your review of Maze Runner.
I hope you feel better. It's obvious you were sick last week. Anyone that says The 5th Wave was just "It was an okay book" had to be running a fever :D

  13. Hope you've managed to sort out the blog issues, Amy. I'm afraid my knowledge is quite limited when it gets too techy for me. Hooray for getting so much reading done last week! Getting through 4 books is a lot!
