Life Update: Writing, Netflix, Bible, Social Media, Exams...

This post is in lieu of a monthly wrap-up, since I haven't written a life update in a while and it's already a few days into August! I can't believe we're more than halfway through 2019. Also, apologies for the long post...I just wrote and unpacked everything that's been going on recently...

July blog posts:

Book Review: King of Scars
2 Mini Book Reviews: Into The Hourglass and Slumber
Product Review: Wavy Table
Book Review: The Moment Of Lift
Book Review: The Kingdom
Book Review: A Thousand Ships

LIFE. Ugh. But actually I feel like I'm managing things better at the moment, so I guess I should be chipper.

I took a semi-hiatus on social media and my blog to prioritise my writing and get a proper schedule in order. It was amazing taking a break (especially from Instagram) and although I'm "back" today, I feel ready. My priorities are rearranged, I have a proper schedule, and I'm writing more than I've written in months.

As for exams, I've done 3 out of the 4! For Science I got 80%, for Social Studies 85%, and for Language Arts 91%. I hope it doesn't come across like boasting, but I'm just really happy with these results because I did not expect them. It's a gigantic relief more than anything else.

Another change in my life is my relationship with God. I haven't been prioritising it, I haven't been reading my Bible enough, and so I'm working to fix that: I've started reading my Bible every morning before school. Instead of looking at my phone first thing in the morning, I've been opening my Bible and reading a chapter or two.

I have not been reading much recently. Technically I'm reading The Doll Factory, but I haven't picked it up in weeks because I haven't been in the mood. Also, writing is the priority at the moment. Reading's been put to the side, at least temporarily.

As for watching, it's been sporadic. I found season 6 of Once Upon A Time at a second-hand store, and since I never watched it (I only got as far as season 5) I decided to buy it. I just finished it last week. That series will always have a special place in my heart, but watching it again after so long I'm reminded how badly it's done ;) Still, it is fun and relaxing - which was what I was in the mood for.

I finally watched all seasons of Stranger Things! To say I'm obsessed is a massive understatement, and I have a whole blog post dedicated to my adoration of that series coming up soon :)

Otherwise, I've occasionally popped in while my Mum's watching 30 Rock and enjoyed some of that show, too. It's hilarious. I've also started rewatching all seasons of Peaky Blinders in preparation for season 5, but I'm taking it very slow.

What have you watched recently?

For these last few years, blogging has been my priority and writing my own fiction has been sidelined. I don't regret that, because my blog needed me and I wanted to focus on reviewing, but now I'm really feeling the need to get my own stories written. As a result, I might be a bit quiet on the blogosphere. I want to work on my screenplays and my novels and I want to make them my priority.

I've written a lot recently. I wrote 10 episodes of a sitcom screenplay (32k words in total), which came totally out of the blue, but also introduced me to screenwriting, which is something I want to do more of. I plan to write some films, too. Next, I'll just be editing the sitcom and googling as much as I can about screenwriting ;)

I also started writing the second draft of my WIP (well, one of my WIPS). I'm still working on that novel, and I also have a pile of other fairytale retelling ideas I hope to write soon. I can't wait!

What have you been up? What are you currently reading? What shows are you binging?
And happy August! <3
