NaNoWriMo 2019: Introducing My Projects

Instead of doing a monthly wrap-up post, I thought I'd share my plans for NaNoWriMo 2019. NaNo is an annual writing event that challenges participants to write a 50,000 word novel in a month. It starts tomorrow, and ends on the 30th of November. This year, I've decided to write 3 novels for NaNo - aiming to hit 50k words for each one.

Why am I attempting 3 books in a month? The idea just popped into my head, and since I have 3 main book ideas I've been playing around with for a while, I'd like to get them drafted asap. NaNo is the perfect opportunity for that. I'm aiming for 50k for each book, and to hit that by November 30th, I'll need to write 1700 words x 3 every day. Basically, 5100 words a day. It's not impossible. Let's see how it goes!

I wrote the first draft of this book two years ago for NaNoWriMo 2017. It's changed a lot since then, and I'm excited to revisit the characters and attempt a second draft.

As you can tell, it's a Peter Pan retelling from the perspective of Tinkerbell.

This book is a Snow White retelling, with a gender-swapped Hunter (-ress) who's tasked with protecting the Princess as enemies pursue them. There's magic, goddesses, and female friendship at the heart of the story. Out of all my NaNo projects this year, this one feels most fully realised.

This book has been a nightmare to flesh out. I've written and re-written so much of it, and it's undergone huge plot and character and world changes. But I love the heroine - her story is very close to my heart - and now I'm excited to write the second draft of the novel.

Because of NaNo and these projects, I won't be blogging this month. But follow my Instagram for occasional posts and writing updates!

Are you participating in NaNoWriMo this year?

What is your book about?
