2020 Life Update - What's Happening, What's Not Happening, What We Wish Wasn't Happening

2020 isn't fooling around, is it? It's only March and so much has already happened. I hope you're taking care of yourself and others, and staying inside.

I have not been reading much. I did finish (and loved) City of Girls, but although I'm officially reading The Other Bennett Sister, Field Notes on Love, and Tiger Queen, it's been a while since I picked them up. I've been extremely inconsistent.

I'm so excited to read Mr. Nobody, however. It's one of my most anticipated novels of 2020, and I can't wait till I've finished the other books and can dedicate time to reading it. It sounds amazing! And I love Catherine Steadman's writing <3

historical fiction, romantic contemporary, and adult thriller books

Since the coronavirus hit South Africa and our colleges, schools, and universities closed down, I've been working from home and staying inside more than usual. At the moment we're actually on holiday, but once term resumes we'll be working online. I'm nervous to see how that works, but it's the safest option right now.

It's a scary and uncertain time. I'm stressed, anxious and heartbroken for the vulnerable in our society, and also for the small businesses for whom corona could put out of business (support them here). It's a terrifying situation, but I'm also aware of how incredibly privileged I am compared to the vast majority of people right now. At the same time, it's so easy to feel helpless as we hear of others suffering. Ultimately all we can do is pray. God is still in control, and I find that comforting.

writing and notebooks

I haven't been writing a lot, because of college and general stress.

But I've still been getting so many new ideas. They're all bouncing around inside my head, and I'm falling love with them. Since I don't have the energy to actually write anything (or edit the three books I wrote last year - don't remind me) I've just been creating Scrivener files to keep a record of everything I think up. That way, when I am ready to write, my brainstorming is all there.

What are you reading at the moment? How's your 2020 been so far? What are you doing to combat COVID-19 anxiety?
